About the Artist
Jared C. Deery, born in Philadelphia in 1980, moved to Brooklyn, New York in 1998, where he lives and works. Deery received his BFA with honors in 2001 from Pratt Institute and his MFA at Hunter College in 2009.
Deery's paintings are concerned primarily with the imaginary, transcendental and fantastical elements found within nature. Through different motifs, such as the still life and landscape, Deery creates colorful biomorphic explorations of space and form rich in art historical references and playful irreverence.
Deery has exhibited at Freight and Volume Gallery, New York, NY, (2017) Geoffrey Young Gallery, Great Barrington, MA (2017); Carriage Trade Gallery, New York, NY (2017); Underdonk Brooklyn, NY (2015); Eastside International, Los Angeles, CA (2015); 68 Projects, Berlin, DE (2015); Spazio Morris, Milan, IT (2012); Marcelleria, Milan, IT (2012) and has participated in the Salone del Mobile in Italy (2015) and the Saint-Etienne Design Biennale in France (2017) with collaborative projects. He currently has an up coming solo exhibition at Boccanera gallery in Trento, Italy. His work is in private collections in New York, Chicago, Denver, Japan and Italy.
